D Is For

D is for what I drank Tuesday evening to celebrate and/or dull the memories from the aftermath of 4/27/91

I'm an equal opportunity wine drinker - I appreciate reds and whites - I go thru my white periods and I go thru my red times as well - just as I've said I'm a ABC white drinker, I tend to be a ABC red drinker as well: Anything But Chardonnay/Cabernet - when I pulled this bottle for Tuesday evening, I also toyed with a Syrah - but chose one of the past month's selections from my WineAccessMonthly shipment -

I don't regret another D is for (Divorce) one bit - just wished I hadn't done it to begin with but it did shape my life in many ways - and had it not happened, a great deal of my life as I now know it wouldn't have happened -

I was actually going to go the D is for Disco and Donna Summer route today but wanted to stay with another D that ties into my Uncle Tupelo appreciation - a group I was introduced to during the time I was beginning to see I could get out of the hell I was in -

The Uncle Tupelo release Anodyne was their last studio effort as their relationship as a group fell apart - a song on that album 'Give Back The Key To My Heart' is a song I love to belt out - in fact, as I put this post together I got to do that twice - actually, I smile during one of the verses as the original composer of this song takes his turn with it - and his voice sounds remarkably like a very special friend of mine - the person that introduced me to Uncle Tupelo -

To keep with the D is for theme, D is for Doug Sahm - another one of those artists - like Blaze Foley and Townes Van Zandt that never really were recognised for their talents until they were gone -

Please allow me to share some selections of Doug Sahm tunes - the first one being his version of the Give Back The Key To My Heart

B Is For

Today is one of 'those' days for me to recall - 19 years ago I did something I probably shouldn't have done but I did - just another one of my things happen for reasons and such -
I got married - 3pm - the time I set this post to post - I settled - something I don't intend to do ever again in my life - I've since learned what love is and what it should feel like and be like -
B is for Billy Joel and Bob Dylan - B is also for a bottle of something nice tonight to 'celebrate' the journey to here from there - for those along the way with me - for those I've met on the journey as well -

The first Billy Joel song was of course the one chosen for that traditional crap of first dance during our reception - I've also included a few other Billy Joel songs from Turnstiles - one of my favourite Billy Joel albums - I was actually supposed to see him in Hershey years ago but TMI happened and the concert got postponed/cancelled -

I've also included another B - Bob Dylan's Tangled up in Blue - one of the big memory songs that is telling of my life since I got the strength to leave - along with two Uncle Tupelo songs that also very much of a part of what I am now -

Not forever - just for now - and of course, we are all looking for a life worth livin' -

To those of you that have helped get me here and keep me here: THANKS!

I think the next post will be D Is For ;-)

M Is For

M is for
A nice Merlot I picked up earlier this month - I tried to control myself for a day - hoping it sold out before I weakened - but I caved and it wasn't - although it did the following day - I've had one bottle so far - and I do believe I'll be happy with it
M is for Mount Fishtail from Marlborough -I do count Sauvignon Blanc amongst my top three favourite whites - I tend to be ABC about my whites (Anything But Chardonnay) - to me, the best SB's are from Marlborough NZ - I so love the grapefruit that is present - if I had to choose only one white to drink going forward, I would so struggle with choosing SB or Gewurztraminer - this wine was actually the white selection is this month's Wine Access Monthly shipment

M is also for an artist that has been worming around in my head since I read KB a blog friend of mine in Colorado was going to see Mark Knopfler in concert -
Here are some MK tunes that I can't listen to enough - the first one I can't embed - there were versions of it could have selected but I REALLY liked this version of Romeo and Juliet - it was a Dire Straits tune from another M: Making Movies
Now to some MK songs I could embed - I hope you enjoy them as much as I do:

I'm trying to get myself to post more regularly here - as a means to share the things going through my head - hoping for inspiration - wanting to try and find a method to and/or for my madness!

Cheers to all - and thanks for reading!

A Is For

More A's - This time A Groups - Three A's that kind of set the tone and sound for their 'period' in our musical history

I think I could listen to these three non-stop - with Ambrosia being my favourite - but because I'm a Virgo, I have arranged them alphabetically ;-)
