I'm an equal opportunity wine drinker - I appreciate reds and whites - I go thru my white periods and I go thru my red times as well - just as I've said I'm a ABC white drinker, I tend to be a ABC red drinker as well: Anything But Chardonnay/Cabernet - when I pulled this bottle for Tuesday evening, I also toyed with a Syrah - but chose one of the past month's selections from my WineAccessMonthly shipment - I was actually going to go the D is for Disco and Donna Summer route today but wanted to stay with another D that ties into my Uncle Tupelo appreciation - a group I was introduced to during the time I was beginning to see I could get out of the hell I was in -
The Uncle Tupelo release Anodyne was their last studio effort as their relationship as a group fell apart - a song on that album 'Give Back The Key To My Heart' is a song I love to belt out - in fact, as I put this post together I got to do that twice - actually, I smile during one of the verses as the original composer of this song takes his turn with it - and his voice sounds remarkably like a very special friend of mine - the person that introduced me to Uncle Tupelo -
To keep with the D is for theme, D is for Doug Sahm - another one of those artists - like Blaze Foley and Townes Van Zandt that never really were recognised for their talents until they were gone -
Please allow me to share some selections of Doug Sahm tunes - the first one being his version of the Give Back The Key To My Heart
